Why HighLevel custom CSS breaks after updates

HighLevel updates change page markup and class names, so custom CSS snippets stop working. Here is why it happens and how to brand HighLevel without it.

If you've branded HighLevel with CSS snippets, you've seen it: one morning the sidebar is the wrong colour, buttons look odd, or your hidden items are back. Nothing changed on your side. HighLevel did.

Why it happens

  • Class names change. HighLevel's front end is rebuilt often, and the selectors your CSS targets get renamed or removed.
  • Pages move. Menus, layouts and whole screens are redesigned. The move to the Highline layout replaced the sidebar and top bar completely.
  • Frames. Some screens load inside frames that your agency CSS never reaches.
  • One box for everything. A long Custom CSS box is hard to test, so one broken rule goes unnoticed.

How the Agency Customizer avoids it

  • Your design is stored as settings, not CSS. The CSS is generated from them.
  • The runtime is maintained by FunnelCare. When HighLevel changes its markup, we update it once and every agency gets the fix on the next page load, with no republishing.
  • Every change is previewed before it goes live, and drafts never touch your clients.
